Medical Product Design

Aesthetics of the product demanded a medical colour palette with smooth transition surfaces to enforce a clean impression that minimised dust traps.

HJC developed an innovative cam mechanism with snap fit assembly fixings that clamped the tube against a pressure gauge to monitor and maintain pumping pressure. Glass fibre reinforced polyamide and moulded inserts were selected to provide a rigid and robust outer casing with an excellent surface finish.

The new pump controller provides constant and adjustable high pressure flow rates for optimum performance, with unambiguous controls to allow quick and easy set up within a theatre environment.

Project Management

HJC Design’s contribution to all stages of the design process resulted in reduced development, manufacturing and assembly cost, with Single Use Surgical returning to HJC for further projects including auxiliary suction tubes to compliment their range.
