LANCS MOULD TOOLS
Opening a bottle of Champagne creates an inherent problem of retaining the fizz when stored in restaurents. HJC Design were required to re-engineer an existing design, optimising it for injection moulding.
Design Brief
A UK injection mould tool manufacturer required HJC’s expertise to improve an existing champagne stopper design and produce CAD CAM data for tool manufacture.
Design Engineering
HJC Design re-engineered the product using an eccentric clamp system with a specialist silicone compound seal. The improved design has a collar that clips around the neck of the bottle for ease of use and cleaning.
Mechanical Design
A connecting lever with an off centre axis controls the movement and force of the spherical stopper, retaining it in an open position during pouring. A contoured stainless steel linkage connects the design to the bottle, which also improves the mechanical advantage when opening of the bottle.
