EMERGENCY PULL CORD

Design Brief

Chubb Systems is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of care products, helping to enhance the quality of life for those more vulnerable in society.

HJC Design were asked to design a new emergency pull cord system that would give clear alarm to nurses or carers if a patient was in difficulty.

Design For Manufacture

The 2 part-design features a twist-on tamper proof translucent cover which is fixed in place using a single screw. This bayonet fixing feature has been optimised for injection moulding by avoiding any expensive undercuts.

An internal ribbing structure helps to strengthen the product and guide the pull cord to activate the microswitch alarm. The base plate has been designed with multiple fixing holes to allow it to fit onto a range of standard pattress boxes.
